President Tinubu Announces December 2025 Motherland Festival to Boost Nigeria’s Global Standing

On May 29, 2025, a powerful vision was shared with the nation and the world. During his Democracy Day address, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially recognized and endorsed the Motherland 2025 Festival as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s global cultural resurgence.

For us at Motherland, this is more than a presidential mention. It is a national affirmation of what we have always believed: that Nigeria has everything it takes to stand tall on the world stage through its culture, creativity, and people.

In his words, President Tinubu declared that “the Motherland Festival will bring together voices from across the continent and the diaspora in a decisive moment of unity and purpose.” These words speak directly to the heart of what we are building. Motherland 2025 is not just a festival. It is a movement to reclaim, reimagine, and reposition Nigeria as a global destination for tourism, investment, and creative exchange.

Scheduled for December 15 to 21, across Abuja and Lagos, the Motherland Festival is designed to do more than entertain. It will spotlight state-by-state showcases, immersive exhibitions, and curated tracks that span culture, commerce, and innovation. Whether it’s tech or tourism, music or medicine, every part of the Motherland experience has been crafted to welcome the world and welcome our people home.

The Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, captured this perfectly: “While ‘Detty December’ has been a time of celebration, Motherland 2025 takes it further, fostering meaningful connections, discovery, and investment.” Her vision reinforces our belief that celebration should be a catalyst for growth.

With strong backing from the Federal Government, and through our work with key ministries and partners, Motherland is also supporting the implementation of policy tools like the Citizenship by Investment Bill, Diaspora Bonds, and the Non-Resident BVN. These measures are not just symbolic. They are the infrastructure for long-term belonging, enabling diasporans to return home, reinvest, and take part in Nigeria’s future.

As we prepare to open our doors to millions this December, we are deepening partnerships across aviation, banking, hospitality, and telecoms to ensure that every visitor has a modern, seamless, and unforgettable experience.

This is our moment. A moment to build bridges across continents. To turn celebration into opportunity. And to remind the world that the heart of Africa beats loudest in Nigeria.

We thank President Tinubu for his leadership and for recognizing the power of culture to transform a nation. Motherland 2025 is ready and the world is invited.
