About Motherland

Motherland is a year-round African cultural and diaspora platform.
Born from the need for reconnection, Motherland brings Africans across the world closer to culture, identity, and home through storytelling, physical gatherings, and real-world diaspora programs.
What began as a festival has evolved into a platform that supports cultural expression, community building, and access for Africans globally.

Each December, we gather.

All year, we build.

What Motherland Does

Motherland Festival & Gatherings

Motherland hosts large-scale cultural gatherings that bring the global African diaspora home.
Through music, art, food, fashion, and shared experiences, our festivals celebrate African culture while creating space for connection, commerce, and community.

Diaspora Pathways & Investments

Motherland supports structured pathways for diaspora engagement across real estate, business, and long-term connection to Africa. Through trusted partnerships, we help Africans abroad explore sustainable ways to invest, return, and reconnect meaningfully.

Diaspora Identity & Access Programs

Motherland delivers structured diaspora programs that bring essential identity and access services closer to Africans living abroad.
From passport renewal to identity services and community-led roadshows, we work with institutional and community partners to reduce distance between Africans and home.

Motherland
Awards

The Motherland Awards honour Africans across the diaspora who are shaping culture, driving innovation, and carrying African excellence into the world.
These stories reflect what Motherland stands for: impact, identity, and global African presence.

How Motherland Works

Motherland operates as a connected ecosystem.
We tell African stories year-round.

We deliver diaspora programs that bring identity and access closer to Africans abroad.
And once a year, we gather physically through our flagship festival.

Each part strengthens the other.

Stories build community.
Community drives programs.
Programs deepen the meaning of our gatherings.

This is how Motherland moves culture into action.

Where We Gather

Experience Abuja

Abuja Events | Dec 15-17, 2025
Abuja, the nation’s capital, opens Motherland 2025 with heritage, diplomacy, and celebration. The Opening Ceremony sets the tone with a showcase of culture and pride that welcomes the world home.

The highlight is the Motherland Ambassador Awards, a prestigious evening at the Presidential Villa where government leaders, private sector innovators, and global Nigerians gather to celebrate excellence and homegrown achievement.

For two days, Abuja stands as the capital of culture and influence, where powerful connections are made and Nigeria’s story takes center stage.

Experience Lagos

Where We Gather
Lagos remains the heart of Motherland’s flagship gatherings. It is where culture, energy, and
global African communities converge.
Our December gatherings are one expression of Motherland’s work. The platform operates far
beyond a single city or season.

Community Give-Back

At the core of Motherland is responsibility.
Through education, food support, and
community-led initiatives, Motherland reinvests in the communities that host and shape our work.
Giving back is not an add-on. It is part of how we operate.
