At the Abuja Continental Hotel, the Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, joined forces with Discover Motherland Africa to officially unveil Motherland 2025. This visionary initiative positions Nigeria as a central hub for African culture, investment, and global tourism.
For us at Motherland, this launch marked more than just a countdown to December. It marked the beginning of a movement. One that calls on Nigerians at home and abroad to come together, not only to celebrate but to build.
In her remarks, the Honourable Minister captured this vision clearly:
“Motherland 2025 is more than a festival. It is a homecoming. A movement inviting our global brothers and sisters to reconnect with their heritage while contributing to Nigeria’s economic and cultural renaissance. This initiative cements Nigeria’s role as a powerhouse of Black and African identity, commerce, and innovation.”
The event also introduced the See Motherland Through Your Eyes competition. Designed to spotlight the beauty, energy, and diversity of Nigeria through photography and video, this campaign invites creatives around the world to capture Nigeria’s stories as only they can. From the rhythms of the Kelangu in the North, to the bata of the Southwest, and the Ogene of the East, our culture lives in every sound and scene.
Managing Director of Discover Motherland Africa, Chidimma Nwankwo, added:
“Motherland is a homecoming. It is a journey. It is a commitment. This December, we invite the global diaspora to experience Nigeria like never before. Not as visitors, but as participants in a redefined vision of tourism. Whether you are part of the diaspora, a first-generation Nigerian, or someone who has never set foot in the country, this is your invitation to connect, contribute, and be part of something greater.”
Motherland 2025 will feature a week-long experience in Lagos and Abuja from December 15 to 21. Core components of the initiative include:
The event will culminate in a spectacular closing concert featuring top Nigerian and international talent, a celebration of music, culture, and unity.
To our partners across government, business, and the creative industries your role is vital. As Minister Musawa emphasized, the success of Motherland 2025 will be driven by collective commitment and collaboration. Now is the time to act.
Let us come together to show the world what Nigeria truly is: a place of deep heritage, boundless creativity, and unstoppable potential.
