Yesterday, our team at Discover Motherland Africa, led by co-founders Timi Ayeni and Chidimma Nwankwo, met with the Honourable Minister of Interior to discuss a shared vision for making Nigeria more accessible, connected, and welcoming to the global African community.
At the heart of our conversation was a simple but powerful idea: coming home should be seamless. For years, members of the Nigerian diaspora have faced hurdles when planning visits, whether for cultural reconnection, investment, or tourism. That is now beginning to change.
The Honourable Minister shared updates on Nigeria’s new automated e-visa policy. This innovative system will significantly simplify the process of applying for Nigerian visas, reduce approval times, and support short-stay travel for tourists, diaspora members, and global visitors. It strengthens our migration management systems while opening the door for increased engagement and mobility.
This shift is more than administrative. It reflects Nigeria’s commitment to building a modern, inclusive future where our people—no matter where they live—can engage with home easily and with pride. As the Honourable Minister noted, this development supports a broader vision of national growth from the inside out, driven by connection, culture, and shared opportunity.
For us at Motherland, this is a major milestone. As we prepare to welcome thousands to Nigeria this December for the Motherland 2025 Festival and Expo, we know that the visitor experience begins long before arrival. From visa application to airport welcome, we are working with partners across government and industry to ensure that every journey home is smooth, inspiring, and unforgettable.
We thank the Honourable Minister for his leadership and look forward to continued collaboration as we build a new future for tourism, investment, and diaspora connection.
